Microsoft and Me

Every year as the new session started in the school, I would feel myself surrounded by unsettling excitement…new books, new class but that particular year it was different. It was the year 2003 and I proudly entered my 4th standard; and this year it was the excitement for the new subject that was included in our syllabus-Fundamentals of Computer. Like many people around the globe, I was also hit by the computer revolution and to be able to learn about this wonderful machine seemed to be very exciting. I switched on the computer and the first few words that I understood were ‘Microsoft’ and ‘Windows’ and since then, for many years, I held a belief that a computer works only with Microsoft. I believe that you all must have experienced something similar, haven’t you???

If you ask me how Microsoft had impacted my life, I would feel short of words describing its profound impact on the little world of mine. I need to make an interactive presentation; MS-PowerPoint is there at my service. I need to create a document or mail merge; very well then, pick MS-Word. I need to create a worksheet or design a timeline, MS-Excel is there to assist me. I want mail services, well, I can’t miss MS-Outlook. I genuinely cannot remember any time when I had made any presentation without PowerPoint or typed any document anywhere other than Word or made any worksheet without Excel. Microsoft has blended all the possible features so well in its Office package that it has become an indispensable part of my life in this computer world.

Oh! How can I forget the Paint? As a child, I enjoyed a lot drawing on Paint and working on Paint made me proud that I can work on computer. Playing games created by Microsoft like, Age of Empires series, Midtown Madness series, Zoo Tycoon etc. would take me to a highly digitized virtual world that would look so similar to my real surroundings. It won’t be inappropriate to say that it was the Microsoft that had made it possible for a person with average salary to afford the luxury of owning a computer in his house and made him a technology enthusiast.

Even in the initial days, when Internet was making its way to reach to the common man, it was the Internet Explorer by Microsoft that had made us comfortable with the web world. At that time, Internet on computer was analogous to Internet Explorer; and Bing and Skype soon joined the league. I can’t exactly recall, when and how all these products had become an inseparable part of my life. Well, this is the magic of the Microsoft-from games on Xbox to even programming on Visual Studio, quick and efficient searching on Bing to live discussions on Skype and not failing to mention the OneDrive; Microsoft goes with me everywhere around the world. With the increasing utility of mobile phones in the modern era, Microsoft didn’t stand behind and brilliantly launched its Windows Phone; which has even made my life vivid and connected me to the world with my Nokia Lumia.

Since the inception of my knowledge about computer, it’s only the Microsoft and its products that had governed my technical life. Microsoft had not only helped me to nurture my technical knowledge; but it had even made me a better computer professional. It had always inspired me to think something innovative, something revolutionary and its principles when applied; bravo! The result is just perfect. Still more to write, but I’m restricted by the word limit, so in the end, I will just conclude it by mentioning that for me, any work, howsoever small it may be, if to be done on computer is incomplete without the Microsoft and its amazing products.

It’s this same mystic of Microsoft that inspires me to become a part of Microsoft Student Associates. For me, MSA is one such platform that I believe, will provide wings to my passion for Microsoft. It not only help me in enhancing my knowledge but will also allow me to share it with others. I want to share my passion for Microsoft with the other students in my college and develop the same fervor in them; and I believe, it can be done best by being a part of MSA. I even want to spread the knowledge of Microsoft to people who are untouched by the magic of Microsoft. I want to make them aware about the Microsoft technologies and even solve their related issues. For the same, I had planned to organize fun events in my college and in my city that will naturally instigate the interest of students in Microsoft technologies and will motivate them to follow Microsoft products.

Microsoft is such a link that has bridged the gaps in all our aspects of life and eventually created a microcosm. If I am allowed to be a part of MSA, I will use my skills to fulfill the vision held by the Microsoft Students Associates. I ensure that I will do all the tasks that will be assigned to me, with full dedication and sincerity. I will work in collaboration with all the MSA members together and scale up towards the supreme objective of the MSA program. I will consider myself extremely fortunate to become a part of such a majestic student community, where I can give my contribution in the process of improving the life standards of others with the marvellous Microsoft.
